Did You Know?

Warts
Warthogs have facial "warts," which are actually thickened skin patches that help protect their faces during fights.

Burrowing
Warthogs use abandoned burrows made by other animals for shelter. They often enter burrows backward to defend themselves with their tusks.

Sounders
Warthogs live in family groups called sounders, typically consisting of a female and her young. Males are usually solitary or form bachelor groups.

Kneeling
Warthogs often kneel on their front knees to eat grass. Their padded knees help protect them while they feed.

Tusks
Warthogs have curved tusks that they use for digging, fighting, and defending themselves. Males have longer, more pronounced tusks than females.

They're Fast?
Despite their stocky build, warthogs can run at speeds of up to 30 miles per hour to escape predators.
