Unique Spots
Every giraffe has a unique pattern of spots, much like human fingerprints. These spots help them camouflage.
Long Tongues
Giraffes have long, prehensile tongues that can be up to 18 inches long. Their tongues are blue-black in color to protect against sunburn.
Herds
Giraffes live in loose, open herds. They are social animals, often seen in groups, but they don't have strong social bonds like some other animals.
Fight!
Male giraffes engage in “necking” battles, where they swing their necks and heads at each other to establish dominance and win mates.
Sleep
Giraffes often sleep standing up, and they only need about 4 to 6 hours of sleep per day.
Vocals
Giraffes are generally quiet animals, but they can communicate using sounds like grunts, snorts, and even low humming noises.
