Crocodile Moms
Female crocs are very protective of their eggs. When baby crocs are ready to hatch, the mother helps them out of the nest and carries them to the water.
Crocs vs. Gators
Crocodiles have long, v-shaped snouts, and alligators have short, u-shaped snouts. Alligators mostly live in freshwater, while crocodiles live in saltwater.
Vocal
Crocodiles use growls and hisses to communicate. Baby crocs even make noises inside their eggs to let their mother know they are ready to hatch.
Ambush Predators
Crocodiles often lie in wait, camouflaged in the water, and then suddenly attack when prey comes close. They eat fish, birds, mammals, and other reptiles.
Powerful Jaws
A crocodile’s bite is one of the strongest in the animal kingdom. Their jaws can snap shut with great force to catch and hold onto prey.
Ancient Reptiles
Crocodiles have been around for about 200 million years! They lived alongside dinosaurs and have changed very little over the centuries.
